Warwick SASCo showcases pioneering resuable plastic polyware medical devices at MEDICA 2021

Warwick SASCo Ltd – an independent family-run business specialising in the supply of sterilizable polyware for hospitals – is delighted to be joining the ABHI UK Pavilion at MEDICA 2021 (15 – 18 November 2021) to showcase their pioneering range of long life medical plastics.

Established in 1981, the company has a reputation for high quality products designed for hospital decontamination and sterile services, operating and surgical applications, patient care and home nursing - where infection management and good user application are critical.

As a pioneer in medical plastic manufacturing for over 40 years, the company has spent years weighing up the advantages and downsides of many forms of plastic – and the alternatives – in terms of sterility, suitability and sustainability.

They recently announced the launch of a new publication that aims to broaden the conversation about the role of plastic, focusing on its revolutionary role in the medical world – in hospitals and operating theatres and across infection control. The publication, which explores the benefits and importance of the material in healthcare, aims to give “a more balanced picture” of the benefits of plastic, focusing on the potential for re-use and recycling.

Today Warwick SASCo supplies high quality, reusable plastic medical devices to healthcare professionals in over 65 countries. At MEDICA 2021, attendees will be able to see seem some of these solutions in practice on the ABHI UK Pavilion.

Janine Farmer, Commercial Manager, commented: “We are delighted to be joining the ABHI UK Pavilion at MEDICA 2021 where we’ll be showcasing our range of reusable plastic products.  Understanding the use of plastic as a material is complex but it is essential in today’s healthcare industry. We believe that by responsibly disposing, reusing and recycling plastic, it can play an important part in helping to protect the environment rather than damage it.

“We have been a key player in the revolution of plastic in healthcare and with our finger on the pulse, constantly seek the sustainable solutions our buyers are looking for. In partnership with our suppliers, we continue to explore innovative processes and new materials that have greater potential for recycling and reusability. We look forward to meeting new partners and forming new connections at MEDICA.”

2021 marks a milestone in Warwick SASCo’s history. In June1981 the company launched the first range of polyware for use in hospital instrument decontamination. The products were quickly adopted and favoured by Sterile Services for their efficacy, low cost and durability.

Since its humble beginning the family run business has sold over 300 million items and become a stalwart of sterile services internationally. Recently, the company was (re)awarded the NHS contract to supply polyware to UK hospitals. They continue to focus on bringing a sustainable approach to the way plastic is used and applied in healthcare.

Paul Benton, Managing Director, International at ABHI, added: “We are delighted that Warwick SASCo have chosen to showcase their pioneering solutions on the ABHI UK Pavilion, where they’ll be joined by some of the most exciting and forward-thinking UK companies across healthcare. We look forward to welcoming them this year.”

MEDICA is taking place from 15 – 18 November 2021 and throughout the show, Warwick SASCo will be located on the ABHI UK Pavilion - Hall 16 / K48.

Ground-breaking medical saws enhancing patient safety showcased at MEDICA 2021

British manufacturer Medezine – who develop high quality medical equipment, primarily focused on medical saws, scissors and instruments – will be joining the ABHI UK Pavilion at MEDICA 2021 (15 – 18 November 2021) to launch their innovative new range of medical saws.

Medezine’s new product range has been designed to focus on qualities that are critical to clinicians and the patient experience. Loud cast saws are known to contribute to anxiety in children and the new Medecast Cast Saws feature an ‘Anti’ noise design, making the device less intimidating for adults and children.

The unique teeth configuration and blade coating also help to reduce heat generation in use, supporting reduced patient burns and improved comfort. In addition, the device is designed to enhance patient safety, featuring a low voltage hand piece, while improved blade visibility means clinicians benefit from increased accuracy and control of procedure, leading to less patient time in practice. To make the device even safer, the innovative hood and vacuum design reduces the risk of dust inhalation.

For clinicians, the device also features an ergonomic slimline grip for improved comfort, while the lightweight design enables reduced hand stress. A unique castor base and plastic vacuum also supports improved light weight maneuverability and balance, reducing the risk of tipping, making the device easier to clean and improving its durability. In additional, the special blade coating can prolong life and reduce heat build-up, while the blades themselves can be changed without the use of tools using quick release and quick locking.

Peter Carroll, Director of Medezine said: “We are delighted to be joining the ABHI UK Pavilion at MEDICA. As a company we are committed to developing products tailored to the changing clinical demands of advanced modern healthcare, with patient safety at the heart of all of our products. Following significant customer and clinic research we are excited to be launching our new innovative Cast Saw range, designed with enhanced ergonomic features, unique blade control and visibility, and quieter and reduced vibration in use. We look forward to meeting new partners and distributors at the event, while being supported by the globally recognised ABHI brand.”

For over 30 years Medezine has been a market leading manufacturer of high-quality medical equipment, specialising in comprehensive product ranges related to the fracture clinic and cast removal markets, in addition to autopsy markets. With research and development at the heart of what they do, the company is constantly investing in new products and innovations using the latest design technologies.

2021 saw the launch of two new global brands for Medezine, and 2022 will bring the company’s most ambitious launch to date with the release of the new innovative Cast Saw and Autopsy Saw ranges as part of the new brand Medecast, which captures 30 years of experience and innovation to deliver enhanced patient and user safety, tailored to global clinical needs.
At MEDICA 2021, attendees will be able to see the new range of Medecast Cast Saws, designed specifically with the patient and professional as priority, underpinned by the commitment to patient safety.

Paul Benton, Managing Director, International at the ABHI added: “Medezine is committed to developing innovations that prioritise the specific needs of patients and clinicians. We are delighted that they have chosen to launch their new, innovative range of cast saws on the ABHI UK Pavilion. We look forward to supporting them at MEDICA.”

Partnering with specialist healthcare distributors, Medezine has exported globally for over 30 years. The company has successfully partnered with industry societies, universities and leading professionals to enhance clinical excellence. Medezine are committed to manufacturing high quality products and maintains ISO 13485 accreditation, with all products fully compliant with European quality standards.

Medezine will be located on the ABHI UK Pavilion – Hall 16 Stand J42. For more information, visit https://www.medezine.co.uk/.
