19/08/2020The novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is thought to spread through natural respiratory activities, such as breathing, talking and coughing, but little is known about how the virus is transported through the air.
19/08/2020To combat the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, research has been stepped up in search of new vaccines and treatments. To enter the cells, the virus needs the spike protein on its surface. Researchers of the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut in co-operation with some research groups in Germany have analyzed the spike protein in its natural environment using high resolution imaging and computer-assisted methods.
31/07/2020Biofilms, microscopic entities not visible by the naked eye, go undetected by health professionals damaging healing tissue and causing delays in wound healing by reducing the susceptibility of microorganisms to antibiotic, antimicrobial and host immune treatments.
01/07/2020When it comes to their environmental impact, hospitals present a challenge, yet can boost opportunities at the same time. They are an environmental burden due to a higher energy use resulting from frequently outdated technology. However, once they are modernized and switch to a sustainable concept, they can turn into a "green hospital".
23/03/2020Germs such as bacteria, viruses or pathogenic fungi can spread from one person to another through direct contact when we shake hands or touch objects. People touch door handles and push elevator buttons in public places and constantly move in and out of spaces. Regular manual high-level disinfection is practically impossible. UVentions GmbH has found an intelligent solution for this problem.
14/11/2018Whether CT, MRT, X-rays or ultrasound – imaging methods provide insights into the human body and are irreplaceable for diagnostics. They are part of everyday hospital life since a long time, but what is currently happening in this field? We took a look – at MEDICA 2018.
12/11/2018Even before MEDICA begins, the Düsseldorf trade fair grounds are alive like a beehive: in the halls, stands are built and exhibits are delivered, while the trade fair management coordinates logistics and services for exhibitors and visitors. We were still able to have a short talk to Horst Giesen, Global Portfolio Director Health & Medical Technologies of Messe Düsseldorf, despite all the bustle.
11/11/2018It is already a tradition for the trade press to get a first glimpse at the MEDICA highlights at Sunday before MEDICA. Our camera crew has already captured some exciting products that will influence the medicine of tomorrow, so you will not miss out on this.
02/05/2018Embedded in plates or treadmills, sensors that measure the pressure distribution during walking are efficient tools to help diagnose and treat misalignments or to assist in rehabilitation. They enable comprehensive motion analysis without the need to invade the patient's body. Zebris offers this type of biomechanical measuring technology in different device solutions.
03/04/2018The medical technology trade fairs Hospitalar and Meditech could not be more different. While one has been the leading medical trade fair in America for 25 years, the other only exists for 10 years now. But the two trade fairs have one thing in common: their aim is to boost the South American medical market and thus improve the country's healthcare sector.
